Hammer Films threw a party in London to celebrate the release of Dracula in 4K, and we were there with our Glambot robot camera. The venue was Café in the Crypt, under St Martin-in-the-Fields on Trafalgar Square. Guests included former cast and crew of the original films, which made it a special one to be part of.
The brief
Hammer’s Dracula is one of the great British horror films, and the new 4K restoration is a big moment for fans. The party was there to celebrate that, so the guest experience needed to feel like a premiere. Fun, a bit cinematic, and easy for people to jump into while they caught up with old friends and colleagues.
The Glambot fits that well. It’s the high-speed robot arm camera you see on red carpets, swinging round guests and capturing a short slow-motion video. Nobody needs to be told how to pose. They step up, do their thing and walk away with a clip they actually want to share.
Setting up in the crypt
Café in the Crypt is a brilliant space for a Dracula party. Brick vaults and stone floors, right underneath an 18th-century church. You couldn’t really ask for a more fitting backdrop for Hammer.
We brought in our studio lighting, which paired with the gothic backdrop and a custom gothic video overlay to give every clip a proper Hammer feel. Guests got their videos instantly, sent straight to their phones by text, QR code or AirDrop.

How it went
It was a great party and everyone enjoyed the Glambot experience. It was really busy all night, and we got through hundreds of videos in a few hours.
Having people who worked on the original films step up to the robot camera to celebrate the release made it a night we were really pleased to be part of.
This is exactly the kind of event the Glambot is made for. It works just as well at film launches as it does at brand activations, anywhere you want a premiere feel and lots of shareable content in a short space of time.
